  • - Ab hier bis zum Anfang von Zl. 1.8 entspricht der Text dem Gefäßbuch des Papyrus Ebers (Eb 854a, Kol. 99.2-5). Dadurch können die Lücken ergänzt werden.
    - mt: Ist ein wichtiger Begriff der ägyptischen Anatomie, der sowohl Hohlgefäße (Blutgefäße, Lymphgefäße) als auch Stränge (Muskeln, Sehnen) bezeichnet (MedWb I, 400-408). Es gibt keinen entsprechenden Begriff im Deutschen ("Gefäßstrang"?).
    - jm=f: Für die Interpretation der Textstelle ist die Identifikation des Bezugswortes von =f wichtig. Für Breasted bezieht sich "in ihm" auf das Herz (ebenso Ebbell). Allen, Ritner und Meltzer übersetzen nicht mit "in ihm", sondern "aus ihm", was für das Herz sinnvoller ist. Ein alternatives Bezugswort für =f ist der Mann/Patient. Grundriß IV/2, 172, Anm. 6 zu Fall 1 erwägt sowohl das Herz als auch den Mann/Patienten als Bezugswort. Westendorf, Papyrus Edwin Smith, 30 (und Westendorf, Handbuch Medizin, 711) entscheidet sich für den Mann, ebenso Bardinet, Papyrus médicaux, 84.
