  • Die Bedeutung von šw.y ist umstritten. Es wird mit einer Ausnahme immer mit einem Büschel Pflanzen determiniert (Gardiner M2), was auf das Wort šw.w hinweist, eine Binse oder Sumpflandgras, das in der Lehre für Kagemni als eine minderwertige Speise gedeutet wird. Vielleicht hat "Grasbüschel" die erweiterte Bedeutung von "Fußmatte" (so Lopez, in: RdE 25, 1973, 252-253; gefolgt von Brunner und Roccati; es gibt aber ein Wort wꜣ.t-šw.w mit der Bedeutung "Fußmatte"), vielleicht ist šw.y in pSallier I und II ein Nisbe: "der zum Sumpflandgras gehört; der mit Gras gekleidet ist": das Wort ist mit einem Personendeterminativ versehen. In der frühen Handschrift tBrooklyn 16.119rto steht das Determinativ des "schlechten Vogels" (Gardiner, in: Mélanges Maspero, Tf. und 483; die Edition von Helck ist zu korrigieren: vgl. schon Burkard, Textkritische Untersuchungen, 35-36), was eine Bedeutung "Mittelloser, Bedürftiger" ermöglicht.
