  • - jni̯ mw n jnr: Es ist unklar, was dies bedeutet. Ist es wörtlich zu nehmen (Vernus, McDowell), oder ist es eine Redewendung (Foster)? Guglielmi, 156-157, Anm. (n), Goedicke, 69, Anm. 25 und Vernus, 376, Anm. 6 vermuten, daß es eine Geste oder ein Ritual ist, die bzw. das man bei der Rückkehr nach einer langen Reise ausführt. Der Stein könnte die Türschwelle (Goedicke) oder ein Libationsbecken (Vernus) sein. McDowell, 147, Anm. (b) vermutet, daß es um eine Wasserspende für einen verstorbenen Verwandten geht: "Menna wishes that he could report that Pa-iry was at home, carrying out his family duties". Foster möchte in "Steine" ein Metonym für "Denkmal" erkennen: der Sohn kehrte arm nach Hause zurück; er konnte als zielloser Schiffer nur Wasser mitbringen, was für ein dauerhaftes Denkmal nutzlos ist.
