  • Die Stelle gmḥ.n=j ḥr m Ḏw-nfr ist schwierig. RITA II, 195 übersetzt: "I went to Elephantine to explore for myself, (my) face (lighting) upon a good mountain." Davies, Hist. Inscr. 2, 231 übersetzt "I went to Elephantine, and looked at a good mountain" und gibt als Umschrift tw.i šm.k〈wi〉 r ꜣbw gmḥ.n.i ḥr m ḏw nfr.Beide Vorschläge haben ihre Probleme. Vielleicht ist ḥr 'Gesicht' hier übertragen für Abbild im Sinne einer künftig aus dem Stein noch herauszuarbeitenden Königsstatuen Ramses' II. zu verstehen, der diese schon bildlich vor sich sieht, als er im Steinbruchgebiet auf der Ostseite Assuans herumstreift. Hatte eine dortige Steinformation eventuell sogar physisch Ähnlichkeit mit einer Königsstatue? Dies wäre jedenfalls grammatikalisch eine saubere Lösung.
