  • - ḥr=f: An der Graphie kann man nicht erkennen, ob der Status Pronominalis des Substantivs ḥr oder der Präposition ḥr vorliegt. Breasted hat sich für die Präposition ḥr entschieden und trennt den Satz anders ab: r (j)ḫ.t ḥr=f ḥꜣ(.w) mj pjw (ebenso Bardinet, Sanchez & Meltzer): "wegen(?) der Sache auf ihm (dem Kupfer), die sich roh/uneben wie ...?... herausstellt". Grapow (bei Breasted, Surgical Papyrus, 174) schlägt hingegen vor, in ḥr das Substantiv "Gesicht" im Sinne von "Oberfläche" zu erkennen. Weitere Belege für die Bedeutung "Oberfläche" in MedWb II, 614 (unter B) und vgl. ḥr.j (substantivierte Nisbe) und ḥr.w: "Oberfläche". In Wb. III, 127.4-8 ist für die übertragene Verwendung nur die Bedeutung "Vorderseite" eingetragen.
    - pjw: Die Bedeutung dieses Substantivs ist unbekannt, ebenso wie die von pj.t in Eb 197a, das ebenfalls im Zusammenhang mit dem Wort nḥꜣ: "grob, uneben" vorkommt. Wb. I, 502.5 und MedWb I, 260 sowie Hannig, HWB, 290 liefern keine Übersetzung. Laut Breasted, Surgical Papyrus, 143 spricht der Zusammenhang für eine Bedeutung wie "wrinkles(?)" (gefolgt von Allen, Sanchez/Meltzer). Westendorf, Papyrus Edwin Smith, 38 hat "Blasen" (ebenso Westendorf, Handbuch Medizin, 716; gefolgt von Brawanski); Bardinet, 497 übersetzt mit: "pustules", d.h. "Warze, Pickel, Pustel, Eiterbläschen".
