  • - m-ꜥ: Breasted, Surgical Papyrus, hat hier die Präposition ḥr gelesen, aber m-ꜥ paßt paläographisch besser (der Strich fängt oben links und nicht oben rechts an; siehe in Kol. 8.5 das Wort m(ꜥ)hwj und in Kol. 10.10 die Präposition m-ꜥ) und "etwas von jemandem erfragen" wird laut Wb. II, 371.5 mit m-ꜥ gebildet. Außerdem fehlt für ḥr der Ideogrammstrich.
    - n mdwi̯.n=f: Die Tatsache, daß der Patient infolge der Verletzung nicht sprechen kann, wird als ein Fall von Aphasie eingestuft (s. Sanchez/Meltzer, Edwin Smith Papyrus, 151-152). Bardinet, Papyrus médicaux, 505 hat mdwi̯ mit "répondre", d.h. "antworten" übersetzt, aber dafür gibt es das Verb wšb. Falls man n mdwi̯.n=f als Hauptsatz betrachtet und nicht als Umstandssatz (letzteres Breasted, Allen), dann impliziert der Satz eine Feststellung durch den Arzt. Deshalb übersetzt Westendorf, Papyrus Edwin Smith, 59 und Handbuch Medizin, 726: "so (- stellst du fest -) kann er nicht reden zu dir."
