  • Ce toponyme non identifié connaît une grande variété de graphies (voir Wüthrich, SAT 19, 91-92). Il s'agit visiblement d'un lieu se trouvant dans un marais ou à proximité d'un point d'eau comme le suggère la présence du déterminatif de l'eau. Il pourrait s'agir d'un lieu mythologique lié à un épisode cosmogonique, malheureusement inconnu.
    Voir les différentes tentatives d'identification proposées par Zibelius-Chen, in Meroitica 25, 202-203 qui n'exclut pas une origine nubienne, même si celle-ci lui semble incertaine. On ajoutera à la bibliographie présentée dans les deux ouvrages cités Rilly, in Valbelle, BdE 154 qui revient sur l'existence du phonème h en méroïtique.
